We compared it with several different flashlights that we have, (and believe me we have plenty of different flashlights, especially since we live in an area with frequent power outages) it was dimmer than our 300 lumen Duracell flashlight. It is bright and will light your way and to be able to recharge it is a nice feature, just NOT 1000 lumens. The little rubber dust cover (covers the USB charger inlet) came off and was a pain to get it back on, had to jam it back in with an ice pick. That’s not a big issue and now it works fine. I am keeping it anyway, because its a pain to go to the post office, if it were more expensive I would definitely return it, I hate being lied to ….just know….NOT 1000 lumens..
