The button is rather unique in that it makes NO sound! While the light is on, the indicator is blue. This is handy for locating it in the dark. As the battery voltage weakens, the “blue” light turns red! If you ignore the warning, the output will drop and the red indicator will begin flashing. Charge the battery as soon as possible.As with many flashlights of this power, there’s an automatic stepdown from Turbo to High, after almost 3 minutes of continuous use. By this time, the head has begun to get moderately warm.This brings us to the internal charging. Once the cable is connected to a USB power source, the indicator will be ‘red’ as the battery charges. When it’s finished, it turns ‘blue’. If connected to a quality USB source, a faster charge is expected.As I said, for the price, and what you get for it, it’s a great flashlight. About the only thing it doesn’t have that the expensive ones do, is instant access to moonlight and turbo, but when taking everything else into account… they aren’t missed.The only negative I might have, is that the manual covers about 4 different flashlight models. Therefore there’s not much detail given. This light, is the second one in the “list” noted as an “E/Z” model.I own dozens of flashlights, and the Soonfire is just as good as the best of them. . Spent wayyyy too much time researching flashlights. I have a Streamlight Stinger that I LOVE but I needed a second more portable one to use for work climbing around in dark attics/crawlspaces. I’ve had this light for a year now and I’ve been very happy with it. Small, tough, and bright. Great battery life, both during use and storage. I didn’t want a tail switch because others I’ve had always get bumped and turn on my bag and then it’s dead when I need it. I was pleased to discover with this one that if you just twist the housing about an 1/8 of a turn, the switch doesn’t work. Great for storing it. Also, it does require a slight long-press to turn on and off, which is nice to prevent accidental on/off, but can be a bit annoying if you need to shut it on/off a lot during use. You do not have to cycle through the brightness settings. If it’s on medium, you can turn it off and then back on, and it will still be at medium. Once on, tap the switch to cycle through the levels.It does kick down the brightness a little when it gets too hot, which is easy to do if you leave it on the bright setting for very long but honestly, the high setting is so bright, it’s rare to need it that bright for long. The next setting down still works very well. If there’s a weak spot, it would be the rubber cap that covers the charging port. I don’t think it would last under heavy use.Overall, nice features, well built, and a great price.UPDATE – About 20 months into owning this light, a small bit of metal inside the housing came loose and would float around inside it, frequently blocking the charging port. I couldn’t get it out. I didn’t see any warranty info anywhere, so I contacted Soonfire directly via their website email with pictures of the issue. I was surprised to get a response back the same day and they are sending me a replacement flashlight out right away. Terrific customer service experience!.

This is a great light & like every thing about it except the SWITCH. I put it in my coat pocket & when I got ready to use it, was dead. Plugged it in & the battery is dead will not recharge. It may be the greatest light in the world – but they put the switch in wrong place & it comes on by it’s self, so it is not a good light. Have carried it in my pants & had it come on but caught it before it had died. I will get a new battery, but will only leave it in the house as I can’t trust it to work when I carry it.VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!BOTTOM LINE IF YOU CAN’T TRUST IT, IT IS NOT WORTH A DAM!!!!!. The kind folk at Soonfire emailed me and apologized for sending out a defective flashlight and offered to send me a new one if I would review it again. I agreed. So the new flashlight is silver as opposed to black which is fine for its intended use…as an emergency flashlight for the truck. This one is also very bright and seems to hold a charge for a long time ( subjective… we did not quantify it) It also has multiple brightness settings which is very handy since you don’t always need a thousand lumen light. And it seems to charge relatively quickly. I have to admit that the flashlight quality is not anything extraordinary but Soonfire’s customer service is. I would buy the flashlight again based on that.Original Review: “Well. The flashlight is bright and was easy to charge and use but the on/off switch fell out on the second day.
