Plus, I also live well off the beaten path where power failures are frequent and backup lighting is a vital component of safety and comfort.These are the very common 18650 (or triple AAA) powered LED flashlight. I have a number of different models from various brands, including the super well rated, US based “GearLight” brand. What I can tell you from having and using most of the major brands of this particular flashlight form factor is there really isn’t much of a difference between them. I wouldn’t entirely shop by price alone, but these Hausbell units are definitely “up there” in terms of quality and definitely exceed expectations in terms of value.These were packaged well enough for a “bulk pack” – each was individually wrapped in bubble wrap and fully protected during shipping. I was quite pleased that they threw in a plethora of replacement o-rings. They aren’t the world’s greatest quality o-rings, but that’s fine when I have a dozen plus spares. Every light in the pack worked as expected and it’s “so far, so good.”My honest take is if you just need one flashlight, the GearLight S2000 (and maybe a small number of others) should be on your short list. But, if you are in the market for a balance between quantity and quality, these Hausbell’s will suit that bill well. I do recommend investing in and powering these with 18650 batteries. I can tell you that I’ve run the 18650 platform through subarctic winters (-40 to -50F/C) and it’s the only battery platform I can trust to make it through an entire subarctic winter, unprotected. All AA/AAA platforms just don’t have the “oomph” to stand up to one of the harshest environments on earth.This form factor is my go-to every day flashlight these days. It’s not my “favorite” flashlight, but definitely competes well in the value department. This purchase is a valuable piece of my kit, which is spread across multiple backups and various brands for good reasons. Lastly, if you are still dealing with incandescent flashlights, you absolutely need to try these because you are missing out, big time.

Using mine with 18650’s. Both worked without problem, the light intensity is IMPRESSIVE. I think at the tight zoom it’s actually brighter than the Anker Bolder LC90 I have. The tight zoom displays the LED array grid instead of a spot beam which is weird but totally functional, wide zoom more than illuminates my 75×50 foot back yard at night.Update: my power is out due to a massive storm system. I’ve stood one of my Hausbell lights on end and set the beam to wide and they’re illuminating my living room. They weren’t designed to be lanterns, but here again I’m impressed by these little guys.
