I have owned many handheld spotlights and flashlights over the years so I have some experience with them. This unit seems to function as advertised but the main lamp is not as bright as I had hoped. I have not used it for extended periods so I cannot review battery life. Both the main beam and the side light activation buttons are on the trigger area. I hit the wrong button almost every time which illuminates my face rather than the target. I would much rather have the secondary button somewhere else on the unit as I may never use it anyhow. The red/blue police lights function is neat but I don’t see a use for it. Don’t let the real cops see you using it even accidentally or you may spend a night in jail.. We live in a rural area, with lots of woods around us. I have always had a go-to bright light for any nocturnal outside happening, from trouble (something getting into the sheep), to fun (watching screech owls feed their nestlings). I have had a halogen lamp for years, have replaced the bulb and battery several times but when it recently failed to recharge, I decided to upgrade to a more modern light. I was a bit concerned that this wouldn’t be as bright but I have not been disappointed. I have had this now for several months and I can tell you is is super bright (excellent distance), lightweight, battery seems to last quite a while, easily recharges (both by the included charger or by a standard USB connection), and has a tripod mount. I haven’t yet used the mount but I could imagine if you were working on something in the dark mounting this would be convenient. I think this is a great light and I recommend!.
