My intent is to mount this light to a rail, which is what it is advertised for, so I go to remove the pocket clip via two small Allen heads. Only to find out I cannot. The screws are torqued on so extremely tight that I am stripping the head of the screws trying to remove them, and this is with two people, one pressing down to increase the bite, and one trying to turn the driver. Wow. This is an absolute mess of a light. Buyer beware, either the QC is non existent, or they are reselling old lights as new. Not what I expected for $90.
. I’ve had this piece for about 10 days now. I love how bright this light is for it’s size. I work in mass transit and use my lights many times during early A.M. or late P.M. hours. I keep two torches on my belt, one is a small Maglight XL-50 which I use to work up close on electronic equipment and can hold in my mouth to keep both hands free. The second is now this Streamlight ProTac HL-X which is Awesome. The ability to change out rechargeable batteries when you need to is fantastic. I bought a two pack of extra 18650 batteries built for this light and make sure they are charged and ready to swap out. I have seen people complain about the strobe function. In many cases I have to call for Police back- up or for an Ambulance. The strobe is very beneficial if you want emergency responders to know where you are immediately. Also a good blinding and disorienting light against would be attackers. I recommend this light highly. My next purchase will be the Streamlight ProTac HL-5X for my gear bag..

Amazing flashlight. As a mechanical maintainer in a production facility I have a flashlight on my belt from the time I get dressed for work until I get home from work. I have a few streamlight AA battery flashlights that are 10+ years old. They were company issued and they were well before LED technology was available at a decent price. I made the switch to Coast when the company stopped issuing flashlights my only issue with Coast was the battery usage.Several of my coworkers have this very streamlight flashlight so I bought it with 2 additional spare batteries. Wow it’s amazing, long lasting and bright as the sun. I believe it will last me until I retire and then some. My only gripe is the so-called holster it comes with. I usually make my own holsters out of a leather filet knife sheath or a leather pliers holster. Cut off the bottom of the holster and soak the rest in alcohol. The alcohol will soften the leather and then slide the flashlight in. Upon drying it will mold to the shape of the flashlight. Do this a few times and you will have a custom handmade long lasting holster for under $10. I’ve done this for about 15 years and each one has lasted until the flashlight ends up on the shelf as a backup in my garage.. I’m a big fan of Streamlight. Anything they make runs like a tank. Throw them, beat them, they still run. This is my second one of these I own. I bought this one for home and my truck. The other is on my duty belt for work.
