My wife bought a handful of the more expensive models. They had the five position switches which I HATED!!!! Who needs a dim flashlight setting and in my 71 years of outdoor experiences, I never needed a flash setting. But I had to cycle through them and often overshot the solid bright setting, which was a real PITA when running out the backdoor to see what’s making noise in my yard at night.This has only the binary selector switch – On/Off. Perfect! My only quibble is it comes equipped for using three AAA batteries, not with a rechargeable battery.I logged on to buy another and then decided to write a review.. FINALLY! The perfect 18650 flashlight! I have a few different versions of this type of flashlight. They have all worked well, but this one is top of the list. I can not emphasize enough how great having just an on\off switch is!! The lights with the 5 modes drive me nuts. I never use anything but high and it’s too easy to get into one of the modes I don’t want and then have to cycle through all the modes to get back to high, and some lights start in a different mode on every click (which makes the light useless to me). Also the XM-L2 bulb in this light is a LOT brighter than my Urpower 5 mode version, which is supposed to have an XM-L T6 bulb. I use a flashlight all day every day at work and the one mode on and off and extra bright bulb is really great! Thanks!.

This light has a very simple on/off and a slide zoom.I prefer to use the 3 AAA battery adapter— it is becoming more and more difficult to find a simple flashlight that is durable and has A high output. I was so impressed with this flashlight, I immediately bought two more— as the saying goes “if it’s any good they’ll stop making it” (I hope that’s not true for this light). I have 3 of these now. One bit the dust because I dropped it onto a busy freeway and it got run over countless times (that was painful to watch). The other 2 are still with me, and one of those spent 4 months in the yard last summer. I found it when I hit it with the lawn mower. The mower blade shaved a chunk of aluminum off one side. I took it inside, disassembled (awesome how easy these are to completely break down) cleaned it, dried it, threw out the battery (wouldn’t take a charge any more), re-assembled, put a good battery in it and it works great. I carry it everywhere, show it off and brag about it. I have gone through a lot of flashlights. Always some are better than others, but I have other Skysted models of lights and am becoming a fan of this brand.. With the right batteries (18650, not included) this is very bright, 1000+ lumens for sure. It’s noticeably brighter than my certified 700 lumen light. Only two modes (on/off) so no faffing about with ridiculous flashing modes like other lights. A low/high/off option would be best though.I’m a klutz and have accidentally dropped this multiple times on my hard floor at home and it’s still fine.For an inexpensive light this is an excellent choice.. I love this light. It is very bright. I STRONGLY suggest using an 18650 3000-3400mah battery, rather than the 3 AAA batteries. The 18650 is way brighter. This model has the Cree XM-L2 U2 bulb inside 🙂 . I was worried it mighy be a T6. It is single mode, so no mode cycling. It can tail stand and xoomfor a narrow beam. When not zoomed, it emits a large even round flood light It came with the flashlight, hand strap, AAA battery adapter and an 18650 battery holder. Will definately buy more.
