Sofirn builds a quality product and this was designed with BLF (budget light forum) though this is not the original design, the LEDs are different from the original and I am not sure if BLF had a hand in the change or not but I think I like these LEDs better than XPL2s. You can count on anything BLF has a hand in is going to be an over the top light in one form or another. Although it’s possible if you put it in a pack or something this is not an everyday carry flashlight. It fits nicely in the hand but is too large to comfortably carry on your belt. This is the kind of flashlight you take camping, walking in scary places, lighting up the lower 40, or to just flat impress your friends that have $10 Homedepot flashlights. It is very useable right out of the box with great smooth ramping but one of the great features is the ability to customize the light the way you want it. If you have never set up a light before it may seem too confusing to try but in the instructions are links to videos that help explain it. There are a lot of options so that you can set it up the way you like. If you are new to these new powerful flashlights not looking for something to carry on you every day then don’t hesitate you will be more than impressed. I think those that were disappointed with this lights output were either flashaholics like me expecting a little more because we are spoiled or did not read the instructions to know you need to double click at the top of the ramp-up to get to the turbo mode. This is my second Sofirn light I’ve purchased, both are very bright.Took this one on a camping trip and it was very fun to play with by lighting up half the campsite. The user interface was slightly tricky, at least for me, but after a white I got the hang of most of it. The USB C charging is a nice touch, but please note that it cannot do USB C to USB C charge. You will have to charge it USB C to USB A.Overall I’d definitely recommend this for camping..
