We have a lot of dim and ambient type of solar lights in the backyard mainly for aesthetics and to keep things still visible. I used my backyard area as my test, and when it turned it on, I practically lit up almost the whole area in my backyard. It was much brighter than the other smaller LED flashlights I currently own. I also decided to try out the focus on this flashlight and then aimed it toward the electric/telephone poles on the streets. I was also able to very well light that area up, pointed it up in the sky and I can see like a beam. I don’t have a lot of experience with flashlights and other brands, but it seems lighter than those big Mag lights, i know people use those for other purposes, but if you’re looking for a powerful and not to heavy flashlight, this does what it’s supposed to do. Light up dark areas very well.. I’m using this light for a general purpose unit to carry around when I hike or work…it is as advertised but the only drawback that I have with it is that it can’t be carried easily on your person because it is simply too big and too heavy! In a backpack or a tool kit would be fine ! It fits your hand beautifully and is very well made…I like the fact that it can be recharged via a usb cable ( but you’ll have to supply your own power block) and it also has a USB port so you can use it as a standby battery for your phone. It has 2 intensity control thru the power button as well as a strobe setting. It also has a glass breaker in the bottom (should you need it! It comes with the USB cord and battery but no useful instructions…you’ll need to go online for that! End result….well worth the bucks but only 4 stars because of its weight and no usable instructions (except for a mfg spec sheet that’s barely understandable because I believe it’s made in the Orient.

Great for when walking to go to the bathroom or walking to the showers at night on the campground. This is a powerful tactical flashlight that really illuminated the path nicely. It has two rechargeable batteries and a nice strap to wrap around wrist. It has 5 light modes and its zoom able . I can use this as a spot or flood beam. It’s strong enough to break a window zoe glass in an emergency too. It’s even equipped with enough power that i could plug my phone into it if i needed my phone charged.. The batteries are complete garbage and unsafe.First they were fully charged. Not that big of a deal, but it means that if they are new, they weren’t kept at storage voltage. Lithium batteries can possibly get damaged if they’ve been sitting around in a fully charged state like that. At the very least it will reduce the life expectancy of a battery if they’re sitting around in a fully charged state for extended periods of time. Batteries in a fully charged state is also a good indication that they are fraudulent or garbage batteries. Funny how they try to make them look like they are Panasonic manufactured batteries. The batteries were also wrapped, making them look like they are new. They look good, but they are far from it.Secondly, with both batteries paralleled together, I got 3839 mAh capacity. So that’s more than 3000 mAh under its rated capacity per battery! They’re rated 5000 mAh, and I got less than 2000 mAh. I discharged each battery at 2 amp, and they had gotten so hot. Like unsafe hot. Well over 90°C. Point is, those batteries are garbage and they are unsafe for use in anything, especially a powerful flashlight like that. I recommend going to a reputable online LiIon battery dealer that sells 26650 LiIon batteries. I bought mine from 18650BatteryStore.com. But I definitely do not recommend that. I recommend getting a battery charger that is big enough to handle 26650 sized Lithium Ion batteries. I also recommend buying for Batteries total. And only charging the batteries when you need them charged because it’s not best to keep lithium ion batteries in a charged state for extended periods of time. When I received this light, the box was crushed (looked like it had been run over several times), box was open, and had an “aged” look (the box looked like someone had used sandpaper to get the picture on the box off).I went ahead and got the product out, and it did look brand new, so I plugged it into a usb charger. It was fully charged within a couple of hours, so I went out and tested it. It worked great!So, like a dummy, I threw the box away (thinking it was just messed up in the warehouse or during shipping).I was going to use it today (the second day I had it), but it wouldn’t turn on… I put the usb charger in… NO CHARGE.. nothing!Now, because I threw the box away, I can’t send it back: a learning message to me to NOT throw the box away for at least a week.. The springs that retain the batteries are not strong enough and won’t hold the connection stable if the flashlight gets a bump which causes the light to turn off completely. If you were to drop the light in the dark it would probably turn off and could be difficult to locate. The body of the light screws together roughly 1 inch below the head of the light, if this were used in self defense it would most certainly break on the first solid whack. I guess the brightness pictured is due to poor quality picture, but it is bright. I love that the 10000mah, or something, battery has a USB out port so you can charge your phone. I just don’t like that I received an open box. The batteries were already inside the flashlight, I wouldn’t even know that that’s not how it’s supposed to come if it wasn’t for the battery casings being in the box. The lens has dust in /under it by the led. It seems to work fine though. Great budget buy, except the open box part.. So glad I bought this flashlight. I bought 3 of these. Two work fine but 1 stopped working completely. You need reliability for a light like this. I store them with the batterie out and it didn’t get abused or knocked around at all. It sat with my gear for emergency use.I’m not happy with it’s failure under no significant harsh conditions.. I purchased Streamlight 88850 PolyTac LED Flashlight to add to a Remington 870 Tactical 12 ga. shotgun along with the CDM MOD-C – Shotgun Flashlight Mount. The flashlight is amazing! Nice wide illumination pattern and super bright.The one modification I made was to remove the included belt clip. I didn’t need it since the flashlight will be permanently mounted on the shotgun. First unscrew the front bezel to expose the o-ring. The belt clip is held in place underneath the o-ring. Slowly work your way around rolling off the o-ring and remove the belt clip. You may need to get underneath the o-ring with a sharp object to get it started. Be careful not to cause any nicks or damage when doing this. Replace the bezel and screw down all the way. It will seat flush.The on/off switch is a push button at the rear of the flashlight. It turns on easily. Finding the sweat spot for momentary illumination is a bit frustrating since it almost has a “hair trigger”. It’s a perfect size, it functions flawlessly and is easy to use. I also have a Streamlight ProTac 2L which I like a lot too. The 2L is very similar to this PolyTac but since the 2L is made of aluminum it’s a little more compact. My only criticism of the 2L is that it’s surface is very smooth which makes it a little more difficult to push the tail cap button when your hand is either dry or wet.This PolyTac is molded with some substantial ribbing and non-skid panels between some of the ribs. The ribbing and non-skid panels make the tail cap button much easier to operate. The polymer construction makes the PolyTac slightly larger in diameter. The diameter of the PolyTac is 1″ in the barrel and 1 1/4″ at the head. The ProTac 2L is 3/4″ in the barrel and 7/8″ at the head. The PolyTac is 1/2″ longer than the ProTac. Both flashlights have a removable pocket clip which can be used to attach a lanyard if desired. The length of the pocket clip on the PolyTac accounts to some degree for the weaker tension on the pocket clip, but at least on the PolyTac I received, the bend of the clip at the roughly 90 degree transition from vertical to horizontal isn’t sufficient to give the clip the tension it needs to more securely carry it in a pocket. My solution: remove the head of the PolyTac (it’s on there pretty tightly) by turning it counterclockwise. Carefully remove the rubber o-ring between the thread on the body of the flashlight and the ring on the pocket clip. Do nothing to tear, break or otherwise damage the o-ring. If you are in doubt about being able to do this without damaging the o-ring find someone who can or don’t do this at all. With the o-ring off, remove the pocket clip. Holding the ring of the pocket clip in one hand and the clip portion in the other, grip with your thumbs and forefingers as close to the 90 degree bend as you can. Slowly bend the clip and the ring so they is about 80 to 85 degrees instead of 90. Place the ring back on the body where it was. Pressing the ring as tightly as possible in place, lift the clip to test the tension on the clip. Bend the clip more or less to preference. After positioning the ring in its place, carefully replace the o-ring in its groove right next to the pocket clip ring. Inspect the ring and o-ring to be sure they are in their proper positions then screw the head back on the body. Be sure the threads on the head and body are not cross threaded. Tighten the head in place and check the tension of the pocket clip. You won’t be able to change the end of the flashlight where the pocket clip in mounted, but you can adjust the tension on the clip to improve its grip on your pocket or where ever else yo chose to carry it.. . . .

Build quality is ok, and yes it’s tiny so convenient you can easily put it in your pocket and charge it with your micro usb. But it’s nowhere near 200 lumens! This is FALSE ADVERTISING. I would say this is as bright as the Maglite Solitaire which is rated at 47 lumens. My Thrunite Ti3 is rated 120 lumens and it’s much brighter. Well these small lights are SUPER BRIGHT and easily adjustable too. The strobe feature is turned on by extending the sleeve head out to it’s full length and pushing the On-Off switch at its bottom. I work nights in a correctional facility and the need for a bright durable light is very essential. I put this light up against the $150 lights the supply in the housing units and there was no comparison, this light is about double the brightness. the 5000 mhz battery is great and need to only charge about every two weeks with continual use.. This flashlight is fantastically bright. It is kind of blinding if you even catch the light in your eyes from the side so be careful where you shine it. For as bright as the light is – the size of the light is still fairly small and handheld so it isn’t super bulky to carry with you. It actually fits in one of my vest pockets (a larger pocket – not like a standard small jacket pocket). It is also nice that it comes with a battery, a battery adaptor, and the charge cable. It would be nice if this light came with a carrying pouch for protection when the light is not in use – and it could hold all of the supplies that come with the light.The problems with this light are as follows:1. The battery life and the battery indicator are not good. You can use the light for a short while and the indicator light will turn red quickly. From there, it stays right for a while until it dies. You have no idea how long it will last before it needs to be charged. When I am out walking in the desert with my dogs I need a more reliable light with a battery that lasts longer. What would make this light better is if it had multiple indicator lights to know – ok the last light is on so I need to charge this light really soon.2. This light takes forever to charge. It says on the website to fully charge it for 8 hours the first time. It took longer than that to charge the first time and it takes at least that long every single time I need to charge it. I keep going back to grab the light and the indicator light is still not green. This is the slowest charging device.3. The idea with the zoom is amazing and useful – THIS zoom on this light, however, zooms out to a square with a stupid dark set of perpendicular lines right down the middle that block where you are trying to see the most. If there is a wild animal/snake up ahead on the path and I zoom out – the dark areas literally block where I am trying to zoom to anyway. The zoom is useless like this. The website makes it seem like the zoom is a clear, well-lit square area that you can see well. It DOES zoom far out but the dark lines down the middles of the square make it useless. This is a terrible design idea. Remove the lines!4. The little wrist strap that comes with the flashlight broke within hours of use. I did not drop the light or anything – it literally just snapped as I had it hanging down from my wrist. The strap is useless – it needs to be a lot sturdier/thicker.Overall, it is expensive for these considerable downsides but it is a bright light. If the battery life is not a concern for you, then the other things are probably pretty minor..
